November 2004 DePaul University began its accreditation process by bringing together a steering committee of twenty-one individuals. The contribution of the DePaul community was soon to expand well beyond the initial twenty-one. Throughout the process over 100 members of the DePaul community participated directly in preparing for the visit from the peer reviewers of the Higher Learning Commission. Additionally, prior to the finalization of the self-study document, all faculty and staff were asked to participate in a survey for the purpose of informing the self-study and all faculty, staff, and students were provided access to a draft of the self-study. Five-hundred and twenty-eight faculty and 674 staff participated in surveys and another 334 members of the DePaul community accessed a website that provided a draft of the self-study and feedback opportunities. Over the course of the preparation members of the DePaul community were kept informed through an initial e-mail from the University President and a series of articles discussing progress and findings. Finally the entire university was made aware of the presence of the final self-study report and supportive documentation on this website.
